What about tragedy? Themes about misfortune attract me.

Any books you anons know of that can help me overcome the influence of the influence of longing for a vague form of female companionship? I've concluded the best women could do (for me, because I'm not a Chad) is pretend to be someone or something I like and they can't really make me happy. Maybe I should write a sci-fi book that explores what life would be if drugs were available that could turn off longing or any other unfulfillable burden emotions that do no good for the man who feels them. If a thing can't be satisfied in a healthy way then it ought to be erased from the structure of the mind. Instead of wallowing in despair and madness over tfw no gf, just kill the root of the desire in the mind, that's been the real problem all along.

Are there any books you lads can recommend to me that can show me how to dispel lust and love? The way I see it fulfilling those drives won't make them go away or help me in an objective way like working out or eating vegetables. Kissing, hugging and "I love you honey" do nothing more than make the ooga booga chemicals in my brain happy. Neither love, lust or the women those drives direct me towards, exist for my good. Either I defeat them or they defeat me, such is the way I view the relationship between myself and these desires.

>go to George Mason for 2 years
>not sure if I want to do a Computer Science or Fine Art degree
>get burnt out due to social isolation and mental health issues, move back to my hometown and go to community college and do some part-time jobs while I try to get my shit straight
I'm doing much better, but I still need to make some genuine friendships with the people I know.
I'm reading the Hobbit because I started feeling really stressed out by the state of things and wanted something to get comfy and chill out to.
As for my future educational prospects, I might just get some kind of liberal art degree so I can take classes in stuff that interests me and get a computer science minor to learn some practical skills on the side.
