I just started reading Eco's "Foucault's Pendulum"

This is the first Umberto Eco book I have checked out. But word is he covers some themes and writes in a style very similar to Jorge Luis Borges, one of my favorite writers.

I'm about 30 pages in and i'm not sure if it's for me. Sometimes it takes a few 100 pages for an author to grab me. I know I had a similar experience with Bolano, who is now one of my faves.

What does /lit/ think of this author and book?

Is this book any good?

I read some reviews but I got turned off when I read that it's "The thinking man's Davinci Code "... That sounds pretentious as fuck.
