>Gigachad and Basedjak are the quintessence of the memetic and cultural decline of 4chan. After regurgitating innumerable wojak and pepe edits, the memetic power of the imageboard that began to dwindle in the last decade exhausted its creative potential and reached a limit in the mid 2010s culminating finally with a tasteless series of highly-exploitable memes representing the simplistic dualism of the generation Z mentality. Unlike their predecessors, Gigachad and basedjak memes collapse all the subtleties of 4chan memes into a yin-yang-like paradigm that a newborn could easily understand, the sole intention of this meme is to convey approval and disapproval towards an individual anonymous user, an ideology or a statement that the majority of the 4chan users collectively choose to accept or vilify. Basedjack and Gigachad are the incarnation of the upvote/downote system of Reddit, a testament to the death of the website which once has been acknowledged as the last bastion of the internet unconquered by the extensive influence of the social media, the mark of the fall and death of the internet counter culture.
