>is there any point in living
it depends

>If you cannot derive pleasure from anything
try everything first to fully answer this antecedent

There, your purpose in life now is to try everything to see what you can derive pleasure from. Enjoy. You have quite a time-consuming adventure ahead of you.

So tell me /lit/ where does one start with getting into nihilism. Do I just start reading Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, ...?
I know nothing of it, I have no idea where to get started

What keeps you going /lit/? What makes you keep on living despite knowing that culture and knowledge and art still have led us to the same cruel, indifferent world that has existed for thousands of years? That despite our best efforts, communication with others is really just communication with ourselves (in that we merely communicate with our interpretations of others). That complete understanding of the people around us is impossible. That love is fragile and temporary. That philosophy is essentially either an impossible movement towards understanding or an understanding that reaching those ends is impossible.

I attempt simple pleasures. Friends, lovers, drink, food. But in the end, in my drunken stupor I'm just left a huddled mess that can't comprehend how thousands of years of humanity has led us to this point. Methods of expressing pain have changed but those pains remain with us. Even our methods of expression are always limited. In art, simply by materialist matters (paint, instruments, paper) and in its foundations, language.

What do we do?

First of all,

you have to distinguish between

"There is no value", and

"Nothing is the value", which one did you mean when try to bait this thread into debate (moar liek de-bait)?

There is also distinction

between ontological, epistemological, and axiological, nihilism. Though, I doubt /lit/ here cares in this thread.

It is actually a pretty interesting concept. German Idealism, postmodernism, existentialism, Buddhism, stoicism, epicureanism all try to tackle that concepts, with varying degrees of originality.

People shouldn't be afraid of nihilism. The Darkness is your friend, and within you, even more so than the mirage illusion of 'the Light'. It gives you the drive, the power to be in a state of desperation to escape from it.

>"for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night." - 1 Thessalonians 5:2

Splendid! Whether you believe or not in Christianity, you cannot overlook the fact that the Messiah Himself (or Herself, since He is rather feminine) guarantees all philosophical categories of nihilism! What joy! Of life which will be an adventure! The resurrection of the Body! Of Life after Life which is Death!

IMMORTALITY!

Through nihilism, it is not merely that we are condemned to be free,

more radically,

condemned to be immortal.
