Another novel /lit/ hates to pretend to be an adult is Ender's Game. Fucking GOAT to me. Dem feels. Feels everywhere.

This and this.

I'm not insecure either. I'm a teacher with a series of high degrees and I have no problem saying that Salinger is among my favourite authors (I also love Melville, Hawthorne, Poe, etc.) and Ender's Game is also one of the books I've enjoyed the most. Dem feels.

I know a lot of you love to hate this one but I found it to be a genuinely excellent book. I didn't expect this many feels. I agree it's less science-fiction than feels about war, which is why it's on the recommended reading list for soldiers. The main source of inspiration for it was diaries from Civil War soldiers and Asimov.

I didn't like it for the first few pages but then, Jesus Christ, never thought I'd get so into space ball games.

Great novel for existential considerations of violence. No carebear politics there. One of my favourite novels.
