I'm not a scumbag, but I can fall into these modes of autism where I become very self-centered and believe that I need a break from everyone for long periods of time, and then I act like I'm the only man on earth. Hope this makes sense.

I don't understand. I never felt comfortable before.

I gt to know a girl once, I was really friendly then wimped out because I was self conscious and feel vulnerable so I kept putting off the text and phone call opportunities until before you know it it's been over 6 months and to contact them now would be weird, like starting all over, or it would selfish to assume they'd even want to speak to me after I made them wait.
