I heard that in the nouveau roman there is this technique to repeat a chapter over and over with differing details and thereby different or same outcomes. Alain Robbe-Grillet was mentioned in that context. Now I might have misunderstood the concept but can anyone lead me to such a book? Thanks guys

the part of the book that resonated the most was hal having a semi-breakdown and just giving up, 'being the only horizontal object in a space of vertical objects', just lying in the tp viewer room, and not moving, and being completely stuck and confronted with the sheer scale of the days ahead, the routines, the sheer boredom and scale of it all, the rooms filled with breaded chicken etc...and how could anyone give themselves so much to one thing or pursuit and care so much.

i don't think i've ever been so moved by anything else i've read.

>It now lately sometimes seemed a black miracle to me that people could actually care deeply about a subject or pursuit, and could go on caring this way for years on end. Could dedicate their entire lives to it. It seemed admirable and at the same time pathetic. We are all dying to give our lives away to something, maybe

Why was the character of Avril so affecting? That conversation between her and Mario when they're discussing sadness is damn near the most touching thing I've ever read.
