Reading SPQR at the moment and it's pretty good, it keeps the Rome larpers away by showing how many myths are tied into history. Reading Rubicon by Tom Holland next, does it go quite deep into its period?

The sentiment isn't totally unfounded, but they're approaching it entirely wrong.

This whole thing roots in the fact that Western society has unabashedly operated under "white is right", even today, but now we're at a stage where such things are pretty outdated and unnecessary.

The fix is to simply just hoist up relevant new authors and perspectives WITHOUT making it super hostile towards whites for simply being white, otherwise you get all this tension.
