It always did bother me that for most of human history writer and poet were the same thing in the minds of many.

There was no ancient equivalent to the novel writer, you had to rhyme or you were automatically shit. The only way to get away with prose was by getting actors to read it and pretending to be nothing more than a playwright

Is there any other art with a community as uninviting as Literature?

Drawing, everyone will tell you that anyone can do it, you just have to practice and keep at it.

Music, same thing, every musician tells you it comes down to practice and determination.

But writing? Goddamn if EVERY writer hasn't one time or another said, "You either are a writer or you're not, it's not something you can just work at" or "If you don't do A, B, and C like I do, you're not really a writer, you're just infatuated with the IDEA of writing"

Why is this?

Which of these is true:

A. Writers find writing simple
B. Writers find writing easy
C. Writers are 100% into writing, all the time.
D. All of the Above

Which would kill /lit/ faster, the creating of a "Writing/Critique" board (in the vein of /ic/) or a "Author/Book General" (like /vg/)
