I read 23 pages in the God and the World chapter in Questions that matter. (5 hours)
I read 36 pages of Heart of Darkness. (3 hours)
This took me 8 hours.
English is my first and only language.
I am 21 years old.
I come on here and immediately I can read posts (up to 3-6 lines on a widescreen monitor) in the blink of an eye. Sure the syntax and content is usually a lot less obscure and dense, but I don't understand how I'm so slow at reading a book, the time just passes so fast even though I'm reading so slowly and despite feeling agitated the time still passes fast.

What is it like to read 30-60 pages an hour of literary fiction or whatever else? You must feel transcendent, how is this even possible? Am I on a different plane of time to the world? Nearly everyone seems to manage it, just glancing at each sentence 300WPM, absorbing the meaning straight into your conscious mind, only subvocalising one or two words the difference being they can do this for hours.

You must feel incredible, all that knowledge constantly flowing, yet not information overload, but constantly flowing prose all your surroundings fading away, 30-60 pages an hour even counting reflections on the text, only being brought down to 10 pages an hour when reading philosophy.
When will I start seeing improvement? I remember things sure, ideas, concepts, facts, archaic words, references but my reading speed stays more or less the same.
