I'm about to start reading The Way of Perfection. Really excited about it. Saint Teresa is one of my favorite saints, and I think God sent her into my life to be a spiritual instructor.

Read the Catholic mystics.

One thing I would love to know is the best English translation of Teresa of Avila's book The Way Of Perfection. There are several translations available, but which is the best one?

I've developed a very personal connection with Saint Teresa of Avila, one of the great Catholic mystics. She wrote a very short prayer of peace and stillness:

I've taken to kneeling, and repeating this prayer over and over, almost like a mantra. It has a very... strange effect, I'll leave it at that. Or at least, it's had a strange effect on me.

If my fellow Christians had any balls they'd be demanding that Islamic countries allow Christian missionaries. What, so the Muslims can come into Christian countries, but Christians can't come into Muslim countries? It's bullshit.

I'm a Catholic and I'd love to send Catholic missionaries into a country like Qatar or the UAE, or even Saudi Arabia. I'd love to sic the Jesuits on those countries, I bet they could have more than 20% of the population converted within ten years.
