>The Idiot by Dostoevsky
this is gonna be the summer of Dosty, I think. I own all of his major novels but I've never read them.

It's okay, pretty enjoybale throughout, a couple great scenes but never comes together to form a spectacular whole. 3.5/5.

Is this the best Dostoevsky? which one ought I check out next?

I just finished reading Crime and Punishment. None of my friends like talking about these things, would anyone here like to discuss it with me?

To get started, I feel like Raskolnikov's biggest evil wasn't the murder. In terms of his own internal logic, the murder was perfectly acceptable. Therefore, it can't really be evil, broken bad logic sure, but not evil. Rather, his treatment of his mother and sister was truly despicable. They adored him and quite literally would give the world to him if they could, and even though internally he loved them and appreciated them, he still treated them poorly. Which, while being a sin nominally, is also something he ostensibly understood to be wrong.
