Is this the best book for a quick and concise introduction to Greek mythology? I already read The Iliad and now I will read The Odyssey but I have minimal knowledge of Greek myth and culture!

do i really need to read all 500 pages to completely understand and grasp the greeks? Is it necessary? can I just get away with the main gods? or even just skip it and move onto Homer?

Are there any good mythology books for non-greek/non-roman myth? Particularly Norse and Celtic.

How important is this to read before starting with the Greeks?
Will it contribute at all to my understanding to Plato? Homer?

what are some good books on mythology?
Im talking about everything: Celtic, Irish, Hindu, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Greek, Egyptian, Sumerian, native american, Slavic, African you name it

Is there really any reason for me to start with this book and not just go into the presocatics? I see no value in it but before I completely pass it up I want to know your opinions and why it's always put at the start of those "start with the Greek" reading list pics.

Is there any replacement for Edith Hamilton's 'Mythology'? It seems pretty outdated/inaccurate.

Does this still hold up as far as (accurate) re-tellings of the Greek myths are concerned? Or should I just replay God of War 1-3 instead?

I'm up to the Trojan War section in this, but haven't read The Iliad yet. Will this "spoil" that book or should I go ahead and read it?

Reading this next. What should I expect?

I'm reading this book like the /lit/ philosophy guide suggests and I'm not retaining a single thing. I'm about 10% of the way through the book and I feel like hundreds of Gods, titans and fairies or whatever the fuck is being thrown at me and I can't remember a single one or their traits. Should I be taking notes or something?

While I enjoy reading, and have since I was a kid, I am a completely casual. I've read most of the sticky's starter guide throughout my life.

I want to start taking my reading to the next level and know that you guys recommend starting with the Greeks. Just curious, why is that? I want to broaden my horizons and understanding so I can start tackling harder and more rewarding works.
