he saged my thread because he thought my questin was inane and he didn't want to contribute.

Although, even with threads he does want to contribute to he very rarely posts without a sage unless the thread slips off the front page and he wants to bump it back for everyone to see.

Also, exactly the same thing happened to the Borders book shop in my city before it was closed down and turned into an all saints clothes shop.

I know how you feel OP

Once, I found a really interesting documentary about Hannibal of Carthage, but the rest of the party forced me to turn it back to MTV Hits.

>thread isn't exactly literature, but has potential
>d&e makes a simple comparison of Kant's philosophy and Lovecraft's ideas in an attempt to make the thread more /lit/ related
>people jump all over him with a murder of incoherent, unhelpful, presupposing (but none the less enthusiastic) posts in an attempt to ridicule him and inflate their own self-worth
>d&e systematically humiliates them by exposing their nonsense
>onionring declares victory because she has managed to cowardly elude d&e's arguments and yet preserve her shit eating smugness
>anonymous doesn't sage

I always thought being angry at someone who has committed suicide and is dead is too absurd to be a rational view and instead comes from their inability to accept and almost denial of the person's death, especially when that deceased was a close friend.

Sometimes I feel like the various interpretations of 1984 are more a result of political factions jostling for ownership of Orwell rather than genuine literary criticism.

Which is kind of a shame because, although it probably contributed to making 1984 Orwell's most famous book, I'm quite sure 1984 is meant to be an attempt to attack all forms of political totality.

>is this true
yes
>what series of events led to the mods taking this action?
/lit/ essentially became a rand-centric board because of the incessant shit-storm fuelled by trolls and retards. The best way to avoid that shit happening is by ignoring and deleting all Ayn Rand discussion threads.

Rand's literature is awful anyway, so the rule isn't even much of a compromise.

now would you kindly delete this thread

Just because they look pretty doesn't mean they think they are. It's not only a facade of physical beauty they wish to wear, they are also scared of people discovering how intellectually shallow they are.

>Julie wasn’t able to watch the clip of Truman Capote reading from Breakfast at Tiffany’s I’d sent around earlier in the week, so I pulled that up, and we discussed how Capote’s voice is equal parts David Sedaris and Sarah Vowell.

I completely forgot about that book.

Also, are existentialism and absurdism always humanist?
