1) nice image choice
2) no, literature is the future of visual novels. If I understand correctly "light novels" are like YA but centered around "anime/manga" stories and themes. If any /lit/ light novels have been published they've flown under my radar, but I think the incorporation of anime themes into "serious" literature by talented young authors (lol) is the future of Japanese anime-style prose fiction. If light novels don't get /lit/ then they'll probably won't develop or will perhaps drift towards modern genre-fantasy (utter trash).
However niche, the anime catboy is being assimilated into the Western ethos as a platonic ideal, reviving (or perhaps conservatizing) certain modes of Greek love. Look then to the oedipal drives in hentai, then to monster girls, then to Mishima and Murakami and whoever else; the East has adopted a great many elements of classical culture as we discard them in our bloated female hedonism.
Even beyond this modern wakon yosai, the feudal economics and kinoaesthetic geography runs parallel in both Japan and Europe.
tl;dr is that as soon as we start seeing some new authors, we'll start seeing some perennially perfect cuteboy Japanese-Western litkino in the lengthy prosaic (not visual novel) format we love.
