It sounds like you're in a terrible position that will only be worsened by the absolute state of the economy. Prison might not be a bad place if you're just looking for a meal and a bed, but it will probably fuck you over much more in the long term since people with criminal records don't usually get hired and people get pretty fucked psychologically in prison. Since you're an illegal immigrant I think it would be best if you looked at getting citizenship or a visa, or maybe just going back to your home country and doing what you need to avoid any run-ins there. This way you could get more stable job prospects and housing. The unfortunate fact of life if that if you aren't born into a good position, it's incredibly difficult to make it there, and rags-to-riches stories are only the exception. You just have to make the best of what you got, and imagine Sisyphus happy.
