i rarely find enjoyment in reading anymore. i don't know what to read, nor can i get passed the first page without asking myself if what i am reading will improve my life in some way. of all the books on my bookshelf, whether economics, philosophy, history, etc, the only practical benefit of the knowledge is that i am better able to know when someone may be lying to me. the only books i read that i enjoy are things like Propaganda by Edward Bernays and other books about influencing people. learning about how people are ripping me off or lying to me or influencing me without my knowing is the only enjoyment i can get from reading. are there any books you can recommend like this? even reading how to lie with statistics was nice to read as it pertained to manipulation.
