We just have different ideas about what gets kids into reading I guess.
I think that adventure, romance, intrigue and magic are more likely to get kids to enjoy books than allegories and dystopian fiction, those come when they already like to read but are still plebs.

Have you read any of them?
It's a pretty linear series of books.
The Farseer Trilogy
The Liveship Traders Trilogy
The Tawny Man Trilogy
The Rain Wild Chronicles
The Fitz and the Fool Trilogy

It's essentially one continuous plot.
The other books set in the same world don't really matter.
