it's an easy read, the language is very modern. Relies on cheap shock value scenes to keep your attention. A painfully obvious allegory to the second sino-japanese war, it's going to annoy you if you know anything about the history of that
also the author is unironically pic related so beware. All her books are about how white people are racist
