/lit/ - Literature

I have read arguments that pic related could be understood to be a science fiction novel, which piqued my interest. For any of you who have read it, do you think that is the case? I'm not asking out of its outer-/lit/ meme status, but would actually like to know.

A few years ago there was a meme author that was parroted all the time around /lit/. He wrote short stories with the most basic vocabulary possible and frequently reposted here.

My brain is struggling really hard to remember but I can't. I'm talking about like ten years ago.

He released his first book which I think was a collection of short stories. One of them was called "sex after not seeing each other for a long time" or something like that and was about, well, what the title says.

I think he was Asian American or something. I also *think* the title of the book mentioned something about "shopping at Target" or some other post-modern shit like that.

For some reason my brain remembered this shit and I can't focus on anything else until I get it off the tip of my tongue.

Help me, /lit/. You're my only hope.

Would this be considered sci fi or sci fi lite? Just started reading and noticed all the new technologies and ideas, some relevant to today but described like Brave New World.
