It's been that way since forever, sure, but our ancestors had it a bit better. The world has been completely explored, space is a pipe dream, and technology stopped being a tool and became our master. There's nothing worth living or dying for anymore, we're just at the end of time. Hopefully we're just on the threshold to a better era, but I don't think it'll happen in our lifetime.
