Is there any right wing literature today that goes beyond sophisticated whining or crypto quietism? All the big names like Evola seem to be either a pay op, or at best, cope

I'll start.

Bellarion the Fortunate. It's by Raphael Sabatini. It follows Sabatini's usual formula of a romantic interest frustrated by a villain who turns the love interest against the protagonist who in turn proves himself and makes her realize he's the love of her life. It's a very satisfying formula that doesn't get old, here it's used in Renaissance Italy in a Machiavellian story of intrigue, assassination and condottiere. Sabatini was a big fan of Machiavelli and especially Caesare Borgia (he wrote two books on the latter), so he applies he research to craft a nice romance for make readers that will keep you reading to the end
