>I just really like the vibes of buddhism. I feel buddhists often come as much deeper and more spiritual than people involved in western religions, which are all about the ego, but I can't bring myself to believe in things like reincarnation. They just don't make sense to me. So I identify myself as a secular buddhist. Makes sense?

Do normies really consider it a feat to have read 'classic' novels? Every now and then I'll come across an article about exactly this.

They even go so far as to PRETEND to have read books such as Moby Dick (oh yeah, that whale is like really crazy) or Infinite Jest (I really GET his sincerity, you know?), memorising some quick notes/facts about a novel for conversation, when they could easily just spend a little bit of their lives actually reading them.

Apparently these books are too hard to read, and they consequently feel a need to pretend to have read them so as not to appear stupid in front of other people who are also pretending to have read these books.

>at start of the book, really enjoying it
>half way through book, get bored
>start another book to 'mix it up a bit'
>same happens

How do I get out of this cycle? The only time i finish a book is if I skip some or skim pages
