The first 80% of book 1 is pretty good.
Disillusioned kid runs away and survives in a world filled with demons. Then there is some massive time skip and he turns into some autistic bald freak and meets the 2 other mediocre side characters whose stories have been told alongside his. Then book 2 ends up being about a bunch of muslim sand people that you don't care about. Based on the reviews I read of the other books the author just shits the bed jumping to other random characters and just makes a big mess of what looked like a promising story. So maybe just re-read book 1 and quit. Read the amazon reviews if you're want a better understanding

First 3/4ths are fine. I stopped 1/4 into book 2. Read the amazon reviews and each book just gets worse and worse. Book 1 is some jaded kid fighting demons. Last part time skips to him as an adult with a couple other lame characters. Book 2 goes back to the past about some sand monkey muslim tribe no one cares about. Apparently the rest of the books continue with boring garbage characters no one cares about and turns the main characters into drooling retards.

is the person reading and enjoying the demon cycle still here? I saw your post last thread and it reminded me I dropped the series 50 pages into the second book months ago. I vaguely remember enjoying 3/4 of the first book. From what I remember:
the young boy realizes his father is a total pussy for letting his mother die to demons and leaves and most of the book is about him traveling and learning how to kill demons. Then it switches to the future and this weird virgin girl who loves chad but realizes chad is an asshole so she saves her virginity for so long people think she's messed up and then she gets raped by a group of bandits and eventually meets the MC who turned into some bald, feral, tattooed freak and she wants to get raped by him. There was also this random jester guy who plays music that soothes the demons or something who like the non virgin girl and they become some weird trio. Then the second book is about the sand people that the MC stayed with briefly in book 1 and it was insanely boring. I even checked amazon reviews and everyone was confirming my suspicion that the rest of the book and series turned to absolute shit. So did I drop it prematurely? Reading about muslims in a desert and having 10 new main characters sounds shitty so how are you enjoying it?

Do NOT read any of the other books. The first one is pretty solid. Kid realizes his dad is a lying bitch and wants to beat the shit out of demons and get stronger. Second book he's some 40 year old bald tattooed virgin and the whole book is about evil sand people doing nothing in the sand desert. Holy fuck what a colossal fuck up

You could honestly just read the first 3/4 even I think. Arlen turns into some bald tattoo freak and the virgin girl gets raped by some random bandits. The jester dude is just straight pointless. Started the second book and it was all about the boring muslim sand people and dropped it 50 pages in. It's funny reading the amazon reviews because everyone's pissed he just drops the MCs from the first one and keeps jumping to new random characters. No idea what the author was thinking

Well I just finished this 10 minutes ago. I think it's a bit more mature than the other fantasies I read. Basically elemental demons rise at night and most humans hide using flimsy symbols etched into things like houses called wards. The summary talks about a trio standing up to the demons but the 3 main characters don't even meet until the last couple chapters. It spans a decade or so following the characters in their teens to their late twenties. About to start book 2. Would recommend if looking for swords and demons. The magic part isn't your typical magic, just symbols that can be carved and painted on stuff.
