What an un-thought reductivity.

An engine does not have choice anon, and as drained out as the statement is, consciousness is not a computation. Irrelevant I say! Man is conscious, he can perceive, he is self-moving.

It's a shame so many in the thread are unable to distinguish the true religious content of a revelation, whereby it was Heidegger himself who attempted to find a "Phenomenological Christianity", before conceding to his fully developed philosophy of Being and Time. However the Gottefrage always flows in and out through his system constantly over the years, and his brother(who is considered to be of equal intelligence to him) was always something of a compendium of Theology and Christianity for him if he needed to reference it back, or had wanderings about the religion of his youth. At the very least, it seems to me Heidegger considered his notion of God before his death was a continuation of the God he had known as a young Catholic.

As he says here in that same interview a few years before his death, and only to be published after because of the roar he knew it would and did cause in the secular world, "God has always been with me." Only a practicer of Taoism could not see a unity here, but then that is not very Tao, and only a Christian could refuse it, but then that is not very Christian for a good thing. It should also be remembered as Jung pointed out, the Taoism or Zen and similar things are of another race, and should not be the main religion in the life of any European or non-Asian.
