Has anyone here read Ursula Le Guin's short story The Ascent of the North Face and can explain it to me? I am getting the impression that it's supposed to be a joke, but it seems more weird than funny to me. yes, I do understand that they're climbing a suburban house, but I don't get why that's funny. At first I thought they might be tiny thumbelinas but then it explicitly gives them normal human height.
