Luther and other humanitarian larpers in the 16th spread their beautiful values. 100 years later europe was consumed by war and dozens of small monarchs killing each other influenced by jewish bankers while the german peasants were inviting turks to kill their own kind.

The obvious consequence of democracy(liberty) is dictatorship
If 200 years ago americans could make revolutions today the best thing they can do is vote in a machine for 2 candidates who are selected by the state itself.
It's very unlikely western society will get tired of the mass entertainment provided by the dozens of Macrons and Mackels that are to come to keep them with the illusion of choice

This book is pretty good, if you want to read the critique in the form of a dystopian novel.

Anyone else here read pic related? I picked it up after hearing that the last two Pope's recommended it. In some ways it is remarkably prophetic, though I do think that Robert Hugh Benson underestimated just how strong a hold on society powerful corporations have. Still, the way in which the world turns from God in this book is excellent, and this might be the best depiction of the Antichrist we'll ever get.
