1. Why does Doc go to Adrian Prussia's office in chapter 18?

At this point he saw Adrian's file so what could he possibly want to know? There's no reason as far as I can tell to want to talk to Puck Beaverton at this point. And when he does? There's, like, nothing to ask? But we get an infodump of information anyway.

2. Why does Shasta say, more or less, What postcard? But at the end asks if Doc got her postcard?

Just finished this and really enjoyed it. First Pynchon book I’ve read. I know its not as complex or lauded as his doorstoppers, but thats fine as I found this wasn’t a slog and still had a solid plot with some great characters.
Especially liked how the book portrayed the dying days of California hippie/surf culture, as well as how he characterized end 60s LA in contrast to the natural beauty of the outer state.
Any books with a similar feel? I was looking at Vineland, wondering how similar it is to IV? Interested in any books that touch on this genre, they dont have to be Pynchon-lite or Pynchon at all.
I do plan on reading Rainbow this summer, but Ive got a busy few months ahead and I wont have the time nor clarity to properly tackle that sort of book.

Holy shit this book is good. I just started reading Inherent Vice (first Pynchon novel) and it's great. I thought you guys said that Pynchon was hard.
Planning to read Gravity's Rainbow after this.

Are there any other Pynchon books with the same vibe as inherent vice?

What does /lit/ think about Pynchon's Inherent Vice? How do you think it compares to the rest of his work?

I just finished it, and I think it's pretty fucking groovy.
