/lit/ - Literature

For someone who is looking to delve into some Lovecraft, yet has no prior experience. What would you recommend? I've been looking at Necronomicon, lemme know. 8)

I have a LotR+The Hobbit box from like ten years ago.
My older brother got me the ASOIAF box last Christmas. I thought the first one was ok and haven't touched it since.
I'm about halfway through Necronomicon (no not that one) by Lovecraft. 'Tis a collection of short stories and poems.

Just pick up the Necronomicon, has pretty much all his best stuff. The guy writes some interesting stuff and I enjoy it. That's about all I can say.

I've decided it's time to understand what all the fuss with H. P. Lovecraft is about. Bought the book 'Necronomicon' (or as I call it: Necro-omnomnomnomnom-icon) and it seems pretty good so far. Only read first 3 chapters; No spoilers, please.

So, ITT: What does /lit/ think about Lovecraft? (and general Lovecraft thread)

I've been eying this book for 2 days already, but I just can't make up my mind whether I should buy it or not. Is it any good? How complete is it when it comes to Lovecraft's works?
