It's v good. Do yourself a favor and note down the main characters you encounter along the way (the text name-drops so many goddamn characters), it makes things much more coherent. Get yourself a Moss Roberts translation. The CH Brewitt-Taylor version is now in the public domain, so that's the version that most online retailers will stock.

The CH Brewitt-Taylor is not quite as lyrical, and character names are translated via the Wade-Giles System, while Roberts uses Pinyin (admittedly, this isn't as big of a deal if you're not learning Chinese).

If you Google around you can find blog posts that dog into the differences in how select passages are translated across versions.
