It's already hard to explain in serious texts, there's little poinrdiscussing it outside of acadomia beyond tidbits that we find funny.
All in all is a response to the practices associated with modernism, which is so far the last movement to come from the progress narrative that Renaissance started. Some of it's points are that we aren't really advancing towards an utopia, which is the rejection of the metanarratives (in spanishw e call them "great stories", I always like that but I don't know how you translate it); stoping the trend of looking at Europes belly and thinking that's the world, which comes from a wider interest in world art and history; and challenging the general conceptions of anything you can think about modernism. Which is kind of the obvious complain: If you define yourself based on everything some other movement had but against it, you are just part of that movement. Post modernism came in a time of obsesion with "what will come next", instead of being a progression that happened and people reflected on 100 years later. I believe that in the future we'll either give this era a new name or we'll redefine postmodernism to a clearer definition that stands by itself.

You can share knowledge without forcing your point of view no matter how much academia insist they have their hands tied.
And I think the word you want is Kafkaesque
