I'm planning on reading them just for the covers. Gormenghast's cover design is kino.

I'm not the biggest fan of fantasy, fell in love with The Lord of the Rings as a child and nothings itched the spot since. Would the first two novels finally do it for me?

>starting a new novel
>writing it in present-tense third person
I've nearly always written in past-tense beforehand, I've only just begun writing this piece but it feels off. It's going to be one of those things which becomes natural after the first chapter, but I can't shake this doubt just yet. Would any anons discourage me from writing in present-tense? It's occasionally action-orientated so I want to keep the tension up and reserve past tense for other aspects of the story.

Excuse me, I posted an orchestral link. This one is better. The vocals make it.

The book is Marius the Epicurian. When your mind is aching for the light, when your lungs plead, quietly an without hope, remember that you asked for this.

But you're moving the goal posts within your own posts. He's not trying to beat all others, just one other. The other, Mr.StealYourGirl. There is a finite amount of work that need be done between him and his goal, as long as he doesn't move the goal posts, as you are doing to compare this singular struggle to the idea that he must subvert all men, he should be fine.
