The Victorian era and is completely saturated with motives and imagery of femdom, and Salome is an archetypical instance of this dynamic. Sexual repression in one of the things that may lead to a lack of sexual agency, and a lack of sexual agency invariably leads to wishes of being dominated by a stronger will. Hence why most women are submissive, and why men in sexually repressive socities are more fascinated by a submissive dynamic.

Pic related: this is what Nietzsche had in mind when he told you to remember the whip when going to the women. And of course she was named Salome. Uncannily perfect.

>Salomé's mother took her to Rome when Salomé was 21. At a literary salon in the city, Salomé became acquainted with the author Paul Rée. Rée proposed to her, but she instead suggested that they live and study together as 'brother and sister' along with another man for company, and thereby establish an academic commune.[5] Rée accepted the idea, and suggested that they be joined by his friend Friedrich Nietzsche. The two met Nietzsche in Rome in April 1882, and Nietzsche is believed to have instantly fallen in love with Salomé, as Rée had earlier done. Nietzsche asked Rée to propose marriage to Salomé on his behalf, which she rejected. She had been interested in Nietzsche as a friend, but not as a husband

>Nietzsche nonetheless was content to join Rée and Salomé touring through Switzerland and Italy together, planning their commune. On 13 May, in Lucerne, when Nietzsche was alone with Salomé, he earnestly proposed marriage to her again, and she again rejected him. He was happy to continue with the plans for an academic commune.

What does Nietzsche being the most commonly known philosopher say about his writings?

It doesn't bode well considering his work serves to venerate aristocrats and is yet most celebrated by losers and lowbrow cultural actors.

Nietzsche's work is composed almost entirely of filters, and you got filtered at one of the easier ones.

Nietzsche INSISTED that the photograph be staged this way, with him as the horse, Lou Salome with the whip, and his romantic rival for Salomes affections, Paul Ree, as the man.
It seeps from every single aspect of his being.

Yes, I am a Nietzschean, have just gone to bed, and hence, I would rather jerk off to Lou Salome lookalike dominatrix porn than have boring, dusty discussions with anemic nerds on the internet.

If you go to the women, make sure to bring a whip, cause you can't be sure she brought one herself.

>The "idea" is always to rise hungry from a meal, always to violate on's own nature. Keep on acquiring a taste for what is naturally repugnant and scares oneself; this is an unfailing source of pleasure, and it has a real further advantage, in destroying the limitations that such slave-morals may inflict upon the individual.
Uh huh, yes, very cool, very Nietzsche, very Blood Meridian, very Ernst "Cringe-King" Jünger. How old are you?

Why do you think Nietzsche staged the photograph in this manner? Why do you think Salome should carry the whip, Nietzsche be the horse, and his rival, Ree, take the position of the man?

Answer these questions and you'll be a step closer to realizing why your understanding of Nietzsche is adolescent.

What a delightfully ironic man, Nietzsche was. I hope facts like these help idiots who fail to understand him interpret his "philosophical" comments on women in a way that is less injurious to his spirit.

I once listened to Russell on some kind of radio show recording on youtube, he was talking about Nietzsche and he got to the part in Also sprach Zarathustra were Zarathustra calls on all men to not forget their whip when they have to deal with women. So Russell went to this rant where basically called Nietzsche an incel and said that if he tried to whip a woman in real life, they would just take it away from him. This is a typical Anglo white knight take and he totally missed the point.
This line was inspired by pic related, the woman is Luíza Salomé, a woman Nietzsche very much appreciated. And as you can see, she is the one holding the whip in the hand. I think she friend zoned Nietzsche when he tried to get closer to her, which must have hurt because he never was successful with women. So when he writes that you should not forget your whip when dealing with women, what he means is that you should not forget it so SHE can use it to whip you with it. Men carry womens bags, they give them gifts, get into fights for them, make them exaggerated compliments, women whip men forth and back like a wild bull and men, like the horse with the boy, just dont understand that there is no reason for any of it.
Instead they faithfully do their little monkey dance until they are rejected for good and left heartbroken.

I found it funny because Nietzsche often remarked Anglos make bad philosophers, and then one of Englands most important philosophers of the 20th century makes a simplistic remark like that, specifically because Anglos are used to carrying their whip.

Lou Andreas-Salomé, who knew Nietzsche very well, claimed that he had proposed to her (according to her, she refused him) and that there was something feminine in Nietzsche's "spiritual nature". According to her, Nietzsche considered genius to be a feminine genius.
