It has been 20 years since this was published. Thoughts? Especially on the School of Resentment

Are anthologies like Harold Bloom's "The Western Canon" useful resources for people trying to self-educate themselves? If not, what are the superior alternatives?

Opinions on this book? I've read maybe half of the authors that he mentions so can I start reading this? I've seen some interviews with Harold Bloom and I really like him but I'm not sure if I can get everything without having read every author, on the other hand maybe this book could enhance my experience of reading these works.

Harold Bloom uses it and he's pretty fucking smart and educated.

What are you thoughts on Blooms' Western Canon?

Do you think the western canon should be fluid or should it be more or less static?

In other words, do you think it should be an area of debate wherein scholars argue for an author's presence in the canon (and subsequently their importance) or do you think it is already largely established and it should be left alone?

I bought this book.

Is it as the epic book it's said to be? Or worthless shit for mental masturbators?
