Poetry is cringe to write. I also hate sharing what I write with people I know. So here I will dump some of them;

sunny day.
a morning cigarette.
plane leaving a trace up the sky,
people having different lives.
cat is calling me,
meowing her way for food.
she knows food to be the truth.
i am tired, life has been hard lately.
studies, friends fading away, you name it.
what would get a young boy sad?
a lover, a wasted afternoon,
an ugly eye sack.
it is not even morning
i am tired, sorrow and lonely

Slowly, Lakesha realized she was awake. She had no idea how long she had been standing there, or how she could have slept in that position, but she had more terrifying realities to ponder.
She found herself on a flat, featureless expanse, the sky filled with some sort of nebula. A gentle wind blew, stirring up whiffs of sand that fell with a hushed crackling.
Rows and rows of cultivated plant-like dendroids, their purple stalks covered with oval blue growths, stood before her, hemmed in by a line of metallic towers. She could barely discern a shimmering field racing between the columns, possibly some sort of defense.
Or perhaps it was more of a prison; she saw humanoid figures staggering between the rows, plucking the blue orbs and putting them into baskets. But she had no ability to move; try as she might, she couldn't twitch a single muscle. Sweat formed on her brow as Lakesha realized she was helpless.
A sepulchral voice behind her broke the silence. "Welcome to your new home, human."
She could suddenly feel her jaw; it seemed the paralysis was completely under their control. "Where am I? How did I get here?"
The unseen voice snorted out a laugh. "A place you've never heard of. And...because you applied."
Lakesha's mind raced, grogginess impeding her thoughts like molasses. She had a dim memory of filling out a job application. No experience necessary, no heavy lifting, earn as you learn, unlimited potential...it sounded too good to be true. Glumly, she realized it was. In her excitement, she had signed before reading all the fine print. Turns out that made all the difference in the world...whatever world this was.
"What do you expect me to do?" she asked, her lips trembling.
"What's it look like?" the voice snickered. "Pick fruit!"
It was her turn to laugh derisively. "Seriously? You go through all the trouble of abducting unsuspecting people from faraway planets, but you can't design a robot that can do agricultural work?"
There was a pregnant silence. "We've never been able to figure that out." She heard a long sigh. "We've designed artificial intelligences that can replace bureaucrats, customer service representatives, copywriters, and reality-show contestants, but picking fruit is beyond them. No matter how good we make their vision, they keep trying to pluck clouds out of the sky." His voice suddenly became bitter. "And don't get me started on self-driving cars, either."
"Please don't do this to me!" she cried. "I'm capable of much more than this!"
"That's not what our aptitude testing revealed," the voice chortled. "You're pleasing to the eye, mentally vapid, and only have a handful of physical skills to your credit."
"Wait," another voice broke in; it was slightly higher-pitched than the first voice, and seemed to slur his words. "I think I know the perfect profession for her."
"What would that be?" she blubbered, her voice almost a whisper.
