Come home, Orthobro
Seriously though, pic related is based on the NKJV and the Septuagint, good stuff. Good protestant translations to me are NASB, NKJV and KJV for historical/poetical reasons. Remember they don't have all the books from the Orthodox/Catholic canons though.
Catholic NRSV is the go-to for Catholics.
Stay away from NIV, ESV and any versions that mark themselves as easy to read or paraphrasing versions.

The most important advice I could give you, and that you could receive in your entire life, is read the Bible (especially New Testament) and pray everyday.

>Yes yes but there is no /god/ board yet, so cope and seethe.
Blessed and, dare I say, breadpilled.

I suggest you read the New Testament, in order, then the OT.
Pic related is a good edition. Good translations include NKJV, NASB and KJV.
Stay away from NIV, ESV and "easy to read" versions.

Some other good books for modern people:
Fear and Trembling - Soren Kierkegaard
Pensées - Blaise Pascal
Confessions - Saint Augustine of Hippo
Anything by Dostoevsky, specifically The Brothers Karamazov and Crime and Punishment

Orthobros, help me out here. I want a good bible for Orthodox reading, but I heard some bad things about the translation in pic related. Namely, that the commentaries are bad or grade school level or ignore passages of theological significance, it butchers the Psalms, and the pages on Orthodox worship and prayer are flat out wrong and don't mention prayers to the Saints. I've heard the COB is good, but the translator didn't get the blessing from his Patriarchate to publish it, and I would have to pay out the nose for a hardcover version. The EOB sounds promising but only the NT has been released with no news on progress for the OT.
