What the fuck? How do you fuck up drawing a lower body this bad?

There was this childrens book i read that had two rival magicians in highschool or something trying to one up eachother and one of the parts had one trick the other into grossing the school audience so bad they got projectile vomited by so many students they got literally washed out in a river of vomit. One swapped the magicians juggling watermelons act with one's filled with maggots and whatever and made him drop it
In another part one of them falls into the river out of a boat while wasps attack and the sister saves him by filling water ballons full of snot and throwing them at him covering him in a layer of mucus that protects him from stings

Its burned into my head and to this day i have no idea why this stuff was given to a child to read, or who wrote it

Well, my room has white painted concrete walls, a mattress lying on the floor, a table, a chair, 3 plants, a wardrobe and a small bookshelf filled with history books that aren't available in a digital format. It's very comfy and neat and when I see how other people live I'm just kinda flabbergasted.
This clinging to physical books that is often expressed here is a symptom of this aberration that affects most of society, so I was seduced into asking a futile question.

Anyone read "West with the Night" and is willing to give some opinions on it?

Man, I'd actually enjoy reading if I could find a comfortable position to do so. How do I find my equilibrium while reading, /lit/?
Also, how fucked up am I if my favorite book is "The Magus" by John Fowles?
