Hey /lit/!

I want to pass on some information to Canadian writers and also offer and accept help from any fellow writers. Exile Quarterly is holding a competition for new or established Canadian authors for super prize money for a winning short story.

Here is the link:

http://www.exilequarterly.com/quarterly/5000-prize/

There is a grand prize of $3,000 and a second prize of $2,000. The deadline is next month so there is plenty of time to write something super. Margaret Atwood recommends Exile Quarterly and she and numerous other excellent writers have submitted work to the publication (including myself)

If anyone has any questions or tips about short story writing I can also try to help as much as possible. I also have numerous colleagues to provide a couple different points of view tonight

/lit/ I am ever so distressed that there are such fantastic short stories out there and people have not read them yet.

Here is an outstanding super short story by Vladimir Nabokov that I heard and then subsequently read. It drives me to lengths reading it. It is titled Signs and Symbols.

Read it here:

Listen to it here:

Also feel free to post any outstanding short stories you have found in your journeys.

This picture should relate how I felt reading it

I shall write some frantic unedited short stories for you /lit/ because you are so super. You can join in (which I strongly encourage you to) or dump some of your older work or critique. This is a great writing exercise for anyone.

There are no rules for this exercise at all. I will abide by a time limit but you do not have to. I normally operate on the 5 10 or 15 minute time. I usually post the time I wrote it in afterwards. I shall not prepare anything i write in this thread before hand. It shall be spur of the moment thoughts and writing. If you want me or others to write on a specific topic then feel free to submit it.
Please enjoy and offer up whatever you desire.

Short frantic stories

So I think I shall drop my trip to create this thread. I am looking for simple short story ideas to write about. The other day a man anon has called acidguy made this brilliant thread:

>>1829263

Now while I have not done acid I am on some other fun things so it should have a similar effect. Acidguy inspired a couple of re-enactments of this style yet in shorter intervals, no word limit and with many participants.

>>1829556

So give me some ideas and I will choose one and write about it given a 15 minute time limit. I will submit it errors and all. I encourage others to join in and we can see who is brilliant enough to write a coherent story in such a short space of time. This should be quite a fun activity.

Hello /lit/ Board.
I have heard about Dostoevskis "White Bear", but can't find the Story to it. Maybe you could provide me with a link, i want to read the original.
Thanks in advance.
