Literally just finished this trilogy. In the middle of that empty-post-book-feel.
What are /lit/s thoughts on Phillip Pullmans Dark Materials

Probably because I was 21 when I've read it.
Not an excuse, tho.
Re-read The Golden Compass this month and it's still absolutely amazing, and the first time I've read it I was more or less 12.

First post ever on /lit/, hi.

What do you guys think about that book?

I found it really amazing in how deep it criticizes the church and God fucking dies at the end.

Which story line did you like the best?

Also, the actual reason why I'm making this thread... Why aren't the movies being made anymore? The Golden Compass was really bad, but I simply don't understand why Disney had to make it. It's not a kids' franchise.

Why isn't no one making a remake? It's the Vatican pulling their Jew strings isn't it?

more like this? books for kids and for adults?
>Pullman's publishers have primarily marketed the series to young adults, but Pullman also intended to speak to adults.[3]

also i raged when i saw this:
>North American printings of The Amber Spyglass have censored passages describing Lyra's incipient sexuality.[4][5]

fucking christfags and moralfags bawwing and censoring a good book

Children's books that stand up to re-reading as adults.

Pic very Related.

What do you think, /lit/?

I read the entire first book, The Golden Compass (or Northern Lights to you Brits), in one night and now I am halfway through The Subtle Knife.

The Subtle Knife isn't as exciting or nerve wracking as the first, but I'm going to finish the series.

I just wonder what everybody else thinks of it :)

Just finished the whole series in a 4 day binge.

Anyone else read this? Thoughts?
