Anybody read through the Shadow Campaign series? I’m about to start Guns of the Empire and I’m wondering if Wexler becomes any less hamfisted and frequent in harping on how the women in the series are just as good the male soldiers. It gets annoying when every chapter from Winter’s point of view needs to mention they’re just as capable as their male peers. We get it; just get on with the Napoleonic warfare and demon summoning already.

Anybody read through the Shadow Campaign by Wexler? I just started book 4 and I want to know if he finally stops beating us all over the head with the fact that Girls Own are just as capable, strong, and good at fighting as all the veteran guys. I don’t really have a problem with the book focusing on an all girl battalion in what’s basically Napoleonic warfare. I just wish it would stop being so hamfisted in pointing out how they can do everything the guys can, but all kind of better too.

Beyond that I actually really like the series. The setting is cool, I like Napoleonic warfare, and the characters are all actually enjoyable.
