What are some books like American Psycho ? I'm thinking about very explicit description of violence and rape. The more degenerate and imoral the better. I want to read about people suffering and dying. Bonus point if its the protagonist doing all the action.

I am aware that in the novel he's a trust fund baby and his father owns the firm. However, I'm asking if you can become like Bateman in terms of achieving his social status, high paying job and wealth while coming from lower middle class family.

taking CS in uni btw. How do I become like Bateman but for computer science instead of a wall street banker?

Do i have to know economy well to read American Psycho or is it like the movie?
