I'm just sick of books with transparent stand-ins for Arabs so the author can live out his revenge fantasies or a world in which all the men are stupid and evil and the women are perfect, superintelligent, and moral. You know the Captain Marvel school of character design where your character is already perfect they just need to stop getting held down by all the men in their life.

As for decent female characters that's nothing new. I've read Sanderson's stuff and the closest he's come to a female character I like is the literal 'sperg who barely gets any pagetime. I wonder if that's damning of him or if there's an innate quality of a "female character" that rubs me the wrong way.
