Debut novel (the first in a series) has been out a day short of two months now, I get my first (and probably only) paycheck in July so that's the only real way I'll figure out how many copies I've managed to sell. My publisher/editor's been a real nuisance recently. I've tried contacting him on several occasions regarding updates on the promotion and stock side of things and all I get is the traditional wave-away-of-the-hand response that things are in progress, are on their way, nearly done etc.

I even had to arrange an interview/feature in my local paper, because I had no news from them - the contract clearly states THEY would do all in their power to get me as much promotion as possible. I don't even know whether my book is stocked in retail shops or not. It's online on places like Amazon, but I don't even know how much stock they've been allocated there.

I'm working on the 2nd novel as we speak - I've been working on it on-off recently but I'm starting to get back into the swing of things. I've just come back from a trip in SE Spain and I spent a large portion of my time there on relaxing and working on the manuscript for BOOK 2. I have the idea/plot all set and structured, but for me, actually going to writing it into actual verbal dialogue is a bit of a challenge.

My advice to people who are searching for a publisher: GET ON THEIR BACKS AT ALL TIME, because so far, it feels like I've paid £2K for a shiny glossy book - with a cover, which I don't really like now - and print-outs of the actual book which feel like they've just been flung left, right and centre to any random so-and-so who wants to stock it.

Elitist assumptions assuming elitist things so elitists can be elitist and justify some of their political beliefs. It's like the classical equivalent of what libertarianism is today.

Didn't refute btw because it's so obviously based on false axioms, pretty much all of /lit/ can refute that stuff, as can http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forms#Criticisms_of_Platonic_Forms..

the notion that philosophy education has become a linguistics education over the years disgusts me and you two should be quiet.
