what are your thoughts on buddhism as a model of complete ascesis? there are modern books like pic related that adapt traditional maps of the complete ascesis to modern language that are quite simple to follow if you are willing to work through it daily.

on the other hand western buddhist culture is a shitshow, but the method itself is so clear and dry that i don't see any drawbacks to it as a personal path, unless you are a very creative person who would prefer some wet path like tantric stuff

That's an interesting proposition. Just today on the train I came to the question of whether instinct -biological instinct, that is- could be thought as a form of knowledge or information.

But if by instinct I call that which is my intuition, what I feel is evident, in a subconscious way, then my instinct is simply my undelying assumptions.
