If you think it is r9k tier you not only misunderstood the novel but come to the opposite conclusion of it's message. The second half of the book is a commentary and largely a critique of the first half. I don't understand how anyone can read the second half and think it affirms an r9k self-victimisation attitude towards the world.

Go read Sartre's commentary on the book. He give a very good answer as to the purpose of the prose.

No, you don't get it. You don't get it at all. You missed the whole point of the book. Do you finish it? It sounds like you read the first half and called it a day. The whole second half is a commentary upon and critique of the first half.

I knew making this picture was a good idea.

Not to say that these works themselves are pleb material but it seems impossible to go anywhere, even on this board where people don't enormously misinterpret these three easy, short, accessible books. They are the plebeian litmus test. If the meme trilogy is some standard of works to adhere to then I want this trilogy to be a standard for base standard for literary criticism. Maybe then we won't have to see so many threads where OP confuses Meursault for Camus, or doesn't realise the satire of Dorian Gray.
