when you are quoting in a sentence, it's better to adjust a word in the quote so that the subject and verb agree and it matches the tenses of your sentence. any change a publisher adds to or replaces in the original is within [ ]

ross had said in the clip:
>Andrew had hit me up. He said: ‘Hey, I’m going to be leaving Romania soon and probably never coming back. If you want to come over and do a week of long streams and content before I leave, I think it’ll be big.’
they changed "coming" to "come"
leaving it as-is, like:
>The influencer read Tate's messages and his plans to 'leave Romania' and 'never coming back'
is wrong, because the forms of the verbs (leave & coming) do not match, which makes it awkward to read

on a similar note, if a publisher wants to mark that they reproduced a quote exactly (despite poor spelling or an incorrect use of a word), they would put [sic] after the questionable word or phrase

Why is there so much superfluous text? I don't necessarily mean conversational text or online information, I mean labels and shit. The can of beans I'm eating practically has a whole book written on it. If I drive down a road there are words all over the place. Every piece of paper I get ahold of has a ton of meaningless words in the margin. Everywhere I look there's text. Are there any books about this autistic drive to put words on everything?

Started reading the Thebaid yesterday and I was filtered more by the mythology than the actual Latin.
During the first 6 lines in which Oedpius curses his bloodline and gives the reason why, by going to the beginning of his family's curse, so I spent like an hour reading up on the backstory and following the rabbit hole to different areas. I will now unload my autism:

Agenor, Graece Ἀγήνωρ, filius Neptuni et rex Phoeniciae fuit.

Genealogia
Agenor -> Cadmus -> Polydorus -> Labdacus -> Laius -> Oedipus -> Polynices, Eteocles, Antigone, and Ismene

Perhaps the OP could be a series of book-finding resources and tips, from the easiest ones (libgen, zlib, archive, gutenberg etc.) to more specific libraries. Anons could contribute with things like mega links, or we could make a pastebin of relevant libraries for book-finding.
/pdfs/ has a request thread and an online libraries thread, but they are highly centered in politics and have less traffic than /lit/ does. We can try to make the general based on these.
Also, a name is important. /bfg/ - book finding general is a possibility.
