I made my own thread but i'll ask here on the off chance since its kind of similar - I just finished Mythology by Edith Hamilton, which is basically a collection of norse, roman and greek myths told in such a way that its like a novel/collection of short stories.

Do any of you guys know of other books on religious mythology like this? I'm indifferent to the flavour (celtic, hindu, christian, islam etc, doesnt matter). I'd appreciate any.

What are good books on Gnosticism?
Other than the Nag Hammadi Library and Philip K. Dick?

Alright, I think this board is in dire need of a TEXTUAL EXAMPLE thread!! YAAAYYY!!!! NO TTKM SHITPOSTING HERE.

What I’m going to do for you, for free, is provide a close reading of a randomly selected Shakespeare Sonnet.

Since last time, we found out that some of his sonnets can be real stinkers! Booooo! Anyone, let’s begin shall we?

Sonnet 35:

No more be grieved at that which thou hast done:
Roses have thorns, and silver fountains mud:
Clouds and eclipses stain both moon and sun,
And loathsome canker lives in sweetest bud.
All men make faults, and even I in this,
Authorizing thy trespass with compare,
Myself corrupting, salving thy amiss,
Excusing thy sins more than thy sins are;
For to thy sensual fault I bring in sense,
Thy adverse party is thy advocate,
And 'gainst myself a lawful plea commence:
Such civil war is in my love and hate,
That I an accessory needs must be,
To that sweet thief which sourly robs from me.

>No more be grieved at that which thou hast done
Nigga pretty much sayin “Don’t feel bad for what you did”

>Roses have thorns, and silver fountains mud:
Now dis be an interestin ass thing to say. Roses, though beautiful and fragrant, have thornes that would cut yo ass—meaning, that not all beauteous things of nature be kind bix nood! Any how, the silver fountains be havin mud? Huh? That shit be wack, I gotta make ponderings on that fo sho....Are there such things as silver fountains? Not traditionally no. All I can think of is a silver tea set or some shit you know? How like, coffee and cocoa and tea leaves collect ont he bottom all gunky and shit? Y’know? If this what mah man Shakespeare meant, he fly as fuck man!

Will continue if someone kiss mah ass.

>I believe in an ultimate truth
>I believe in an ultimate causation

I stand alone among the heathens on this board in this set of beliefs. Maybe one day you will die, and the new generation will listen.
