i am under the impression that Jack London's The Iron Heel is the only dystopian novel you need, since it has a chapter for everything. Want to know how capital develops over time? Mathematics of a Dream. Want a substitute for The Savage? the chapter "the machine breakers" has you covered

The dictionary does not "define" words. It "describes" words. A word is "defined" by what it associates. Words are living objects in your psyche. A word changes "definition" over the course of your life because its associations change. The more you read, the more contexts of association you gather for each word. Every time you encounter a novel use of a word gives it more depth.

Fuck the dictionary. Words are alive.

The Iron Heel by Jack London. I don't know how well Jack London really understood Nietzsche, but Ernest Everhard is certainly inspired by Nietzsche's blonde beast, though less so than Wolf Larsen from The Sea Wolf.

Anyone on /lit/ read this? I have to read it for uni and the first five chapters have been dreadfully awful. I'm convinced the author just wrote this book to masturbate over how skilled of a debater he is. Does he ever loosen the fuck up or is it like this for the whole book?

Any evidence to show that Jack London's "Iron Heel" (1908) influenced "We"?
