Most people don't know what real love is. They just use the other person as a prop for their egoistic agenda, be it sexual satisfaction, a boost of self esteem, a relief from loneliness, or fulfillment of societal roles. Like with many other things used to evade things and achieve satisfaction, like drugs, it gets nasty in the end, and you return back to square zero with not a single one of your troubles resolved (except for sexual desire, maybe).
