The irony here is that all movements for "muh peoples' rule" are created and participated in by the greatest beneficiaries of capitalism. When somebody identifies as "communist" in the US, you can bet solid money that said person is a middle class or above white 20-30 year old academic idealist. Also consider why religion is so popular. One of the fundamental doctrines of Abrahamic religions is that human beings are pieces of vile garbage who can only be redeemed by an objective source of morality with magic powers. This idea has lasted throughout the centuries because people subconsciously understand that human being are shit, and nothing short of a supernatural ghost patriarch will save them.
